🔃Late Swap + Swaptimize

Adapt to Game-Day Surprises: Rapidly Change Lineups with LineStar's Swaptimize and Late Swap Features.

Let's consider a scenario in an NBA DFS context:

You've selected a balanced lineup for the day, but one of your later game players is LeBron James, who has been nursing a minor injury. The Lakers' game is the last one of the night, starting several hours after the first set of games. When you set your lineup, LeBron's status was "questionable."

The first set of games go well for you, and your players outperform their projections. You're sitting comfortably in the money in your contests, but there's a risk: If LeBron ends up sitting out, you'll be stuck with a zero, which could tank your otherwise winning lineup.

An hour before the Lakers' game, the team announces that LeBron will not play due to his injury. With the late swap feature, you're able to remove LeBron from your lineup and replace him with another player who hasn't yet played. You choose Anthony Davis, who should see a boost in production with LeBron out.

Because you were staying alert to news and ready to use the late swap, you avoid taking a zero from LeBron and instead get a solid score from Davis. This secures your position in the money and turns a potentially frustrating evening into a successful one. This is why the late swap feature is so valuable in DFS.

How To Use Late Swap & Swaptimize

Here we're going to be talking about two very important features...

Late Swap - Late Swap is a feature of LineStar that highlights players that are marked out and proposes players to swap them with. This is an automated process, but you must select their replacement. You're trypically doing this ONE lineup at a time.

Swaptimize - The 'Swaptimize sets' button found on the lineups page of the optimizer can be utilized to rapidly swap MANY lineups at one time. By pressing this button it will rapidly adjust all lineups in that set to have the best possible lineups per your optimizer settings.

What is Late Swap and Why Is It Important in DFS?

Late swap is a crucial strategy in Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) for several reasons:

  1. Managing Last Minute Changes: Injuries, player rest, and lineup changes often occur after initial rosters are set. Late swap allows DFS players to adjust their lineups accordingly and avoid starting a player who won't play.

  2. Leveraging Game Time Decisions: Some players may be game-time decisions due to questionable injury statuses. Late swap allows you to include these high-upside players in your lineup, with the option to switch them out if they are ruled out.

  3. Reacting to Early Results: If your early games don't go as planned, late swap can be used to pivot strategy, such as switching to higher variance players to make up ground.

  4. Gaining an Edge: Not all DFS players will be diligent enough to use late swap effectively. Staying alert to late-breaking news and making intelligent swaps can give you an advantage over less attentive competitors.

  5. Strategic Adjustments: Late swap can also be used to guard a lead in your contests. If you're ahead and have a player remaining whose ownership you know is high among those chasing you, swapping to that player can block them from gaining ground.

Remember, while the late swap can be advantageous, it requires attention and dedication as you'll need to track news and updates right up until each game's individual start time.

Important: When you utilize LATE SWAP, although LineStar will highlight that the player is marked OUT in red highlight, you'll have to manually select them and select a replacement for each individual lineup. Additionally, you must update your lineups on the DFS site you're playing on such as DraftKings or Fanduel OR export/import the lineup set you were working on again.
